Concept

We are developing and offering a conceptually new type of real-time simulator systems for anchor handling and other advanced offshore operations.

Using a modern, flexible component-based approach, our simulator systems are extremely flexible with regards to implementing and operating new vessels and equipment types, 3D environmental models (both land masses, sea beds and environmental effects).

Our simulator systems will allow "full mission" training, where ship's bridge crew, crew members on deck and engine, operators of ROV's, heavy lift ship cranes, rig units like crane, winch and control room operators etc. may engage in the simulation in addition to the navigators. Whole teams can then be trained in a wide variety of incidents and emergency situations in which even stand-by vessels and on-shore emergency units may participate.

The simulation software allows a variety of critical training, testing and evaluation scenarios. Instructors have full control over the exercise scenarios. Scenarios can be customised to support various types of offshore activities from rescue operations to advanced offshore installation and salvage operations.

Our systems are capable of simulating realistic environments, both visual and aural, through use of modern display technology and real instruments. Advanced behaviour analysis feedback software modules can be used to log the participants' actions for feedback.

This initiative has been made possible through international equipment manufacturers' knowledge of vessel, equipment and control systems design and production, through Norwegian resarch institutions' knowledge of hydrodynamics, cybernetics, structures, energy and logistics, through major ship operators' experience of ship handling in advanced offshore operations, and through AUC's experience in maritime education and training, and competence in simulator technology and real-time computer graphics.
